State Rep. Timmy Beson today submitted a revised state funding request for Bay City’s Lafayette Bridge project for the updated amount of $1,995,000, in an effort to ensure the city can receive the full amount needed to meet its local share of the project.

Beson said he has been working behind the scenes with state and local partners to keep the project moving forward and recently identified that additional funding will be needed beyond the original estimate.

“I’ve been having a lot of conversations and digging into the details of this project,” Beson said. “What we found is that the amount originally set aside wasn’t quite enough. I’ve now submitted an updated request so Bay City can receive the full funding needed to get this bridge done right.”

The Lafayette Avenue Bridge is a key connection for residents, businesses, and emergency services in Bay City. Beson said ensuring the project receives the necessary support remains a top priority as lawmakers begin work on the next state budget.
