State Rep. Matt Hall, of Marshall, today announced that long-time WBCK radio personality Tim Culver has joined his office.

Culver, who used the name Tim Collins on radio, previously was the host of the WBCK Morning Show on the Battle Creek-area news/talk and community radio station. He retired from the radio station in late October after 32 years of on-air and management duties at the station.

“I’m thrilled for the chance to continue to serve the community,” Culver said. “It was always the most rewarding and most important part of the radio job for me, and now I’ll still get the chance to do that – but in a little different way. I’m excited to help represent Rep. Hall at events in the district and bring voter concerns back to the state Capitol. It’ll be great talking with so many people I’ve come to know through my time on WBCK and helping Rep. Hall address the issues facing people in Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties.”

Hall said: “Tim is a tremendous addition to my office. He has an incredible understanding of the area and what issues are important to our communities. The more ears to the ground, the better.

“This is only going to enhance the voices of people throughout Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties in Lansing.”

Culver was born in Kalamazoo and grew up in Cooper Township. He started in college radio at Western Michigan University in the 1980s and worked at WKZO in Kalamazoo and WELL in Marshall before joining WBCK in 1989. He and his wife, Debbie, a Battle Creek native, currently live in Leroy Township.
