State Rep. Brian BeGole will host a non-partisan, informational town hall meeting on recent changes to state law related to firearms.

The meeting will take place Monday, May 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Shiawassee Conservation Association, located at 4247 N. M-52 in Owosso.

The event will cover storage requirements, universal background checks and red flag legislation recently signed into law by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Experts and representatives from the National Rifle Association, the Michigan House’s Second Amendment Caucus, Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners, Michigan United Conservation Clubs and Michigan Open Carry will discuss the reforms and answer questions from guests.

“A lot of people I talk with have questions about what these new laws mean for them, their families, their property and Constitutional freedoms,” said BeGole, of Antrim Township. “We will have a panel that can address concerns, discuss what these laws do and lay out the road ahead.

“Most importantly, anyone is welcome to attend and engage in discussion. I understand this is a very passionate issue, but this will be a constructive and welcoming conversation as I work to represent the values and interests of everyone across our region.”

People who would like more information on the meeting can contact BeGole’s office by calling (517) 373-0853 or emailing BrianBeGole@house.mi.gov.
