RELEASE|January 18, 2023
Contact: Dale Zorn

State Rep. Dale Zorn will serve as Republican vice chair of the House Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee during the 2023-24 legislative session. He will also serve on the House Higher Education Committee.

Zorn, R-Onsted, previously served as chair of the Senate’s Local Government Committee and as a member on the Universities and Community Colleges budget subcommittee.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my work in these areas,” Zorn said. “Local governments play a critical role in providing the essential services the people in our communities rely on every day. The decisions made by the Higher Education Committee will impact the lives of young people and adult learners across our state.”

Additionally, Zorn has been named as Dean of the Republican Caucus by Leader Matt Hall. As dean, Zorn will offer mentorship, leadership and other guidance to his legislative colleagues. Zorn is particularly well-suited for the role, having served in the House from 2011 through 2014 before being elected to the Senate, where he has served the past eight years.

Before being elected for a first time to the Michigan House, Zorn held various roles as a public official in Raisinville Township and served as a Monroe County commissioner for 20 years, including four years as chairman.

Zorn represents Michigan’s 34th House District, which spans most of Lenawee County.
