Rep. Fairbairn, House Republicans secure additional federal dollars for ice storm recovery
RELEASE|March 10, 2026

State Rep. Parker Fairbairn today released the following statement after President Trump announced additional federal dollars for ice storm relief. The funding comes after months of work between House Republicans and the Trump Administration to secure additional relief dollars following the devastating Spring 2025 ice storm.

“I’m grateful to President Trump for approving these dollars. This support will mean so much to Northern Michigan families and businesses. We’ve been working with the Trump Administration to secure these funds for months. That work started when Speaker Hall and I ensured our state budget included dollars for ice storm relief. That funding cleared the way for these federal dollars that will now directly benefit our Northern Michigan communities.

“The work isn’t done. The Senate still needs to pass my $100 million state relief plan that will secure even more help for Northern Michigan. They’ve been sitting on it for nearly a year; our communities waited long enough.”
