State Rep. Jaime Greene today celebrated the vote from the House Families and Veterans Committee to advance her bill promoting ibogaine research in the state of Michigan.
“I’m glad the committee took action in advancing this legislation,” said Greene (R-Richmond). “Ibogaine has shown significant potential to treat various mental health conditions, including opioid use disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and traumatic brain injury. People throughout our state are suffering, and my bill would give us the ability to work towards results that will provide lasting relief.”
House Bill 6020, introduced by Greene, would establish an ibogaine grant program within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for certified development trials. It would require participation in a consortium seeking FDA approval and therapy designation.
“We can’t afford to ignore this research,” Greene said. “We need to position ourselves to be at the forefront of these medical breakthroughs. Michiganders deserve to know that the state of Michigan is taking real action to deliver results that will provide meaningful healing to those who need it.”
