Rep. Pavlov supports plan to strengthen oversight of statewide education standards
RELEASE|April 2, 2026

State Rep. Joseph Pavlov recently voted in support of a plan to increase transparency and legislative oversight when statewide education standards are revised.

House Bill 5364 would require that any updates to Michigan’s model curriculum content standards adopted by the State Board of Education receive approval from both the Michigan House and Senate before taking effect.

“Major decisions like these should not happen without transparency and accountability,” said Pavlov (R-Smiths Creek). “This plan ensures that significant changes to what students are expected to learn are reviewed by the people’s elected representatives and opened to greater public input.”

House Bill 5364 passed in the House and now moves to the Senate for further consideration.
